March 2012 Pictures of My Layout

As I get new loks I will rotate them with some of these loks. There will be fewer pictures in subsequent months since I don't anticipate a large number of new loks. But I will, as well, rotate some of my existing collection with these loks.

The SBB V 200 diesel pulling a consist of double level coaches. This is an ESU lok with many functions including squealing sounds as it rounds curves and a realistic sound when it crosses a turnout. I really like the ESU loks on my layout. The CS3+ allows me to run them using the DCC protcol which has more functions than you get if you run the lok as mfx+ which you can also do.

This is a really great lok to see and hear on the layout. The whistle is distinct and powerful. The coaches that it is hauling are a perfect consist for this lok.

The King Ludwig BR 218 Diesel on a test run of the ramp connecting the main and lower levels. Two Cargo diesels BR 212 and BR 213 are idling on the lower level with a consist of Cargo freight cars.

The ML 3000 C'C' diesel pulling a consist of tank cars.

A ML 3000 C'C' diesel at the head of a consist of tank cars.

Two of the tank cars.

The Thalys PBKA and the Class 18.1 (S3/6).

The yellow Goliath crane. I also have the red Goliath which I will place on the layout once I find a place for it where it can be operated.

The control car of the City Bahn and a BR 111 electric City Bahn lok. These two City Bahn trains run on one of the three loops on the lower level. They can be operated without interfering with a train running on the down ramp to the helix.

Streamlined BR 05 above and the TEE VT 11.05 below.

The TEE VT 11.5 in the station. Note the LEDs that light the main level. They are 5 meter strips. They were easy to install since they have an adhesive backing.

The TEE VT 11.5.

The King Ludwig BR 218 emerges from the helix and the VT 11.5 on the siding.

The BR 218 King Ludwig diesel.

The King Ludwig BR 218 diesel emeges from the lower level and the TEE VT 11.5 on the siding.

The BR 218 emeging from the cut.

The King Ludwig BR 218 on the third level of the helix.

The Senator.

The Senator

The Roco Vierteiliger S-Bahn Triebzug BR 423. This is a really great railcar set. Robert Frowenfeld installed a Marklin mfx decoder and it is has great sounds.

The BR 423 on the inner loop of the upper level.

The Bay. Reiche B VI on the ramp from the upper to the main level. The RAe 1051 SBB in on the inner loop of the upper level.

The control cab of the TEE RAe 1051 SBB consist.

I use the LZB - Messwagen to check for current in tracks or to find dead spots.

The BR 103 has pantographs that are motorized so that they can be raised and lowered.

The V 188 in green livery. I use it to pull a consist of Shell tank cars.

The BR 213 diesel which is pulling a consist of Cargo cars.

The BR 111 pulling an S-Bahn consist on the lower level.

A BR 218 diesel pulling a City-Bahn consist on the lower level. In the background is the control cab car of the S-Bahn that is pulled by the BR 111. These two consists are on the same lower level loop but the loop is so long that there is no problem keeping a large separation between them.

Yet another BR 218 in a different livery pulling a TEE consist on the inner loop of the upper level.

The Thalys PBKA and the Wurttemberg (K.W.S.E.) Klasse C.

The Thalys PBKA on the main level. It shares the outer loop with the Le Capitole.

The Wurttemberg ( K.W.S.E) Klasse C later named the Br. 18.1 after the provincial and state railways were absorbed into the
Deutsche Reichsbahn.

Le Capitole on the outer loop of the main level. It shares this loop with the Thalys PBKA.

A BR 220 in blue and tan livery. A former designation was the V 200. This lok pulls a very long consist of passenger coaches with the Schimel Piano Car and the Dance Car as the last two cars.

The BR 610 or the Pendelino and the King Ludwig BR 218.
