Pictures of the Christmas Train Display at the Bronx Botanical Garden
Here are some pictures of the Christmas Toy Train display at the Bronx Botanical Garden in New York City. Each year since its start in 1991 the Garden has a toy train display in its Conservatory. Its designer is Paul Busse who created a similar Christmas display in the U.S. Botanical Garden which is only 1/4th the size of the Bronx display. Busse's layouts are currently on display at Longwood Gardens and the Morris Arboretum in Pennsylvania, the New Orleans Botanical Garden, the Frederik Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids, Mich., and the Krohn Conservatory in Cincinnati. The trains in all the displays run among the plantings and the bridges and buildings, made of tree bark, vines, roots, seeds and all types of plant parts. The Bronx display represents buildings found in New York City and its environs. New buildings or structures are added each year. In 2004 the Brooklyn Bridge was added. Quite a unique display and well worth a visit if you are in New York during the period of Thanksgiving to the about a week after New Year's Day. I have tried to identify some of the buildings but most are un-named.
